WHY ORGANIC / ORGANO-MINERAL FERTILIZERS?
One of the main components that affect many properties of the soil directly and indirectly is the organic matter. Soil organic matter, which consists of plant and animal tissue residues in and on the soil and their organic decomposition products, is the most important element required for soil fertility and protection.
Soil organic matter increases the decomposition rate of some mineral substances and balances the water holding and aeration capacity of the soil by improving the soil structure. It improves the physical properties of the soil and increases the fertility of the soil by acting on the chemical-biological properties. As it is a source of nutrients, it also keeps the nutrients in the soil and mineral fertilizers useful. In short, soil organic matter is one of the basic conditions to keep the physical, chemical, biological properties and productivity potential of agricultural soils at the desired level.
However, 94% of Turkey’s agricultural soil is poor in organic matter content. Because 58% of our soils are calcareous, they show structural defects. Due to the deficiency of many elements, there is a decrease in yield and quality in plant production. Even in the most prosperous year, the average wheat yield in Turkey is 288 kg/decare, while the average wheat yield is 541 kg/decare in EU, 780 kg/decare in Germany and 744 kg/decare in France. The main reason for this is that the fertility potential of our soils is not high.
In order to increase the yield and quality, supporting the agricultural soils poor in organic matter and the use of mineral fertilizers which contain plant nutrients is of great importance. Organo-mineral fertilizers offered by Toros Agri combine organic and mineral fertilizers, which have two different functions, in appropriate formulations in order to help increase the fertility of the soil and receive high yield and quality products.
